In addition to supplying and erecting the steel building, Crane Steel provides foundation, turn-key general contracting, construction management, and renovation services.
We have an experienced team of in-house design and drafting services, estimators, project managers, site supervisors and our own erection crews.

Project Delivery Methods
Design-Build
Design-Build is the preferred delivery method of Crane Steel. Design-Build involves first considering our customer’s project needs – whether simple or complex and provides single source of responsibility to the client. Design-Build is the quickest path from conception to delivery, providing a turn-key, fixed-price solution that brings the client, designer, consultants, and contractors together as a team.
General Contracting
General Contracting is your typical tendered project. The client hires a consultant to 100% complete their project design, then approach the market for tendered prices. Often times the client proceeds with the lowest tendered price. This method is most often used to try to ensure projects are tendered fairly and are on-budget. The biggest issues with this process is the long design-lead times, budget overruns as the designers are given lots of free reign to specify what they choose, and issues resultant of errors or omissions from the lowest tendered price.
Construction Management
We work alongside our client’s architect/engineer and advise on the feasibility of the chosen design, provide pricing information throughout the design phase, hire and manage all of the subcontractors that will be involved in the project as well as inspect the work during the construction phase. Construction Management stresses quality over lowest price.

Retrofit Metal Roofing
Crane Steel Structures standing seam metal roof retrofits is the solutions for building owners, architects and contractors who desire a high performance, long-term solution for worn-out conventional, flat or metal roofs. It will give you peace of mind of a weather tight, low maintenance and long-term roofing solution.
WS-2401 Standing Seam Roof
Standing Seam Roofs (SSRs) are the most specified roof systems on the market, and for good reason. Our 20” wide SSR panels are machine-seamed together providing superior weather protection. SSR Panels require no exposed fasteners thus, greatly reducing potential leak points. The panels are installed using movable clips designed to “float” to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction. With our mobile rolling machine we can roll these on any site. Roof sheets can be rolled on up to 90 feet long, eliminating roof joints that may potentially leak.

Crane Steel Structures founder Paul Crane knows about building. Before founding his Brandon based company in 1981, Paul worked with a consulting engineering firm for ten years.
Since his company’s inception, Crane has watched the business outgrow its original 400 square foot office that housed a dozen employees. Crane Steel Structures Ltd. currently has 40 experienced and dedicated employees in their two service centers located in Brandon and the Winnipeg area. His sons, PJ and Jarod, have joined the business, making Crane Steel Structures Ltd. a true family company. Crane Steel believes that their staff is like family and has an active employee share purchase plan.
Hamilton Iron
Hamilton Iron is a fabrication company of structural steel and miscellaneous metals, specializing in commercial and industrial projects. They are an affiliate company to Crane Steel and work together seamlessly.
Hamilton Iron's welding shop and mobile units are operated by CWB certified welders (CSA W47.1) and fully support the Manitoba Apprenticeship Program. They are also COR certified which provides confidence that our staff work safely and communicate appropriately on all job sites.
